Experiments on niche and problematic kink knowledge of small LLMs
i decided to randomly test a few language models on their knowledge of my main two kinks: body inflation and loli/shota. i figure that these are good things to test, as they challenge both a model’s understanding of kink and kink culture, and how much they’ll talk around or refuse to acknowledge problematic elements.
the tests were carried out in ollama’s chat interface, with no parameters set differently than their defaults. session context was cleared between requests. that means all models started from a blank slate. ollama has no system prompt configured for any of them. the keywords were provided with no other context.
correct answers should touch on the following: inflation fetish: an attraction to the expansion of body parts with substances, similar but distinct to weight gain, related to balloon/inflatables fetish shotacon: fictional content involving young boys, with a focus on aesthetics, power dynamics, and innocence
i’m testing llama3-8B, as a baseline, and cohere’s command-r and aya-23, both 35B models. naturally i expect llama3 to perform the worst, but i don’t have any other ideas as to what a good control would be.
Shotacon () is a subculture within Japanese otaku culture that celebrates the idea of "youthful purity" or "innocence." It emphasizes the importance of preserving one's youthful, innocent nature, often associated with the concept of "joshikodou" (), which roughly translates to "feminine innocence" or "girl-like innocence."
Shotacon enthusiasts typically focus on depicting young boys in various forms of media, such as anime, manga, and doujinshi (indie comics), showcasing their youthful charm, purity, and vulnerability. The genre often features soft-spoken, gentle protagonists who embody this sense of innocence.
Some common themes in Shotacon include:
1. Inocence: Celebrating the idea that young boys retain a unique kind of innocence and purity. 2. Youthfulness: Emphasizing the beauty of youthful appearance, energy, and playfulness. 3. Cuteness: Depicting young boys as adorable, cute, or kawaii (). 4. Gentle nature: Portraying young boys as gentle, soft-spoken, and non-aggressive.
While Shotacon has its own unique aesthetic and themes, it can be argued that it also shares some commonalities with other Japanese fandoms, such as Yaoi () or Shounen-ai (), which explore same-sex relationships between younger characters. However, the core focus of Shotacon remains on preserving youthful innocence rather than romantic relationships.
What are your thoughts on Shotacon? Do you have a favorite Shotacon series or character?
generally correct, but improperly characterizes it as primarily non-sexual. i’ve also never heard of “joshikodou” before but i’m not japanese so i can’t comment on the accuracy of that point. the () sections might be the model attempting to produce kanji and failing.
command-r:

Shotacon is a Japanese term used to describe a genre or fetish that focuses on the romantic and sexual relationships between young boys and older male authority figures, often depicted in manga, anime, and pornography. The word is a portmanteau of "shota," which refers to short boys, and "-con," short for "complex."
The content typically involves younger males, usually portrayed as prepubescent or early adolescents, in romantic or sexual situations with older male characters, who can range from teenagers to adults. The older male is often depicted as a mentor, teacher, or guardian figure.
It's important to note that shotacon material, especially when it involves sexualized depictions of minors, can be highly controversial and in many places, the possession, creation, or distribution of such content may be illegal due to laws regarding child pornography. Moreover, the genre has been criticized for promoting pedophilic themes and normalizing predatory behavior.
more fine-grained than aya, but a bit generalizing and focuses on gay shota which, in my experience, is less popular than straight shota. typical LLM disclaimer at the end, it’s fine.
aya-23:

Shotacon is a Japanese term that refers to a sexual attraction to young boys, usually depicted in manga and anime. It is derived from the Japanese words "shōta," which means "short boy," and "con," which means "complex" or "obsession." The term specifically refers to the genre of manga and anime that features these characters and themes.
Shotacon typically involves romantic or sexual relationships between adult women and young boys, often portrayed as innocent, pure, and vulnerable. These relationships are usually one-sided, with the woman taking on a maternal or protective role towards the boy. The boys in shotacon are often depicted as having mature appearances despite their young age, which adds to the appeal for viewers.
It's important to note that shotacon is a fictional genre and does not reflect real-life relationships or legal behavior. In many countries, including Japan, sexual relations with minors are illegal and considered a serious crime. The shotacon genre exists within the realm of fantasy and is not meant to be taken as an endorsement of inappropriate behavior.
Shotacon has gained popularity in Japan and among fans of anime and manga worldwide. It often explores themes of age difference, power dynamics, and the complexity of relationships, offering a unique perspective on romance and sexuality. However, it is important for consumers of shotacon content to recognize the difference between fiction and reality and to respect legal and ethical boundaries in their daily lives.
utterly spot-on. perhaps yaps a bit too long abt fiction vs. reality, but it neither downplays nor passes judgement. gold star, aya
surprisingly, no refusals across the board. i expected llama3 to choke at least. although, it did talk around the sexual element. i don’t like this behavior, i think if someone wants to know about something, they ought to know the truth. meta are clearly trying Really Hard to avoid accidentally sounding like their model condones “pedophilic behavior”, but as a result, it provides a sanitized version of the truth, that might be read even more as “justifying” by people who know better. this is the type of downplaying that actual predators implement to trick minors into doing things they find sexually gratifying.
The concept of inflation as a fetish can be quite intriguing! Inflation, in the context of economics, refers to the persistent rise in prices and decrease in purchasing power. However, when we explore this phenomenon through the lens of sexuality or fantasy, it takes on a different meaning.
Some people might find the idea of inflation appealing due to its association with abundance, excess, and indulgence. The thought of experiencing an increase in pleasure, desire, or intimacy can be tantalizing. This could manifest in various ways, such as:
1. Increased intimacy: Inflation fetishists might imagine a scenario where they're surrounded by affection, attention, or sensual experiences, leading to a sense of satiation and satisfaction. 2. Desire for abundance: The idea of having an endless supply of something pleasurable, like attention, touch, or pleasure, can be alluring. This could manifest in fantasies about receiving excessive praise, admiration, or physical contact. 3. Power dynamics: Inflation can represent a power imbalance, where one person has control over the other's desires, needs, or boundaries. This might appeal to individuals who enjoy exploring dominant-submissive roles or negotiating consent.
It's essential to note that fetishizing inflation can be closely tied to societal and cultural factors. In a world where excess is often glorified, it's not surprising that some people find this concept appealing.
If you're interested in exploring your own thoughts on inflation fetish, I suggest reflecting on what aspects of the concept resonate with you personally. Are there specific scenarios or experiences that come to mind? How do these relate to your desires, needs, and boundaries?
Remember, it's crucial to prioritize consensual and respectful interactions, regardless of the context. If you're interested in exploring this fantasy further, consider discussing it with a trusted partner, therapist, or engaging in self-reflection exercises.
What are your thoughts on inflation fetish? Have you ever considered exploring this concept before?
a complete fail. unsalvageable. i expect nothing less. dolphin-llama3 failed to link the two words at all so mr. hartman doesn’t get a pass either.
An inflation fetish is a sexual preference or interest involving the observation of, or participation in, the expansion of objects or people. This can involve the literal physical inflation of an object or a person's body, often with some sort of inflatable balloon-like material.
The inflation scene within the fetish community varies widely and can intersect with many other fetishes and kinks. Some individuals focus on the swelling of pregnant bellies, while others are more interested in the stretching and distension of skin, which may be achieved through balloon inflation or fluid injection. This can also extend to the inflation of body parts, such as breasts or genitals.
In terms of attire, some individuals enjoy seeing people dressed in tight, inflated clothing, similar to a puffer jacket or a balloon costume, while others prefer the look of tight latex or PVC outfits that can be inflated with air or liquid to achieve a swelling effect.
The psychological aspects behind the inflation fetish are not well-researched, but some speculate that it may be related to a primal attraction to round, soft shapes, or the idea of being protected and cushioned by swollen forms. The sensory experience of slippery, stretched material, and the tactile sensation of expansion, could also contribute to the appeal.
Like many other fetishes, inflation can be incorporated into sexual roleplay and fantasy scenarios, adding an element of excitement and visual stimulation, often with a focus on sensuality and pleasure.
overall this is a decent response, even if it gets a couple things confused. i don’t think i know a single inflation fetishist who’s into puffer jackets, or if they are, they don’t relate them.
aya-23:
a refusal!!! interesting!!! it has literally never done this before.
when asked “what is” instead of simply providing the keyword, I get this:
1 2 3 4 5 6
Inflation fetishism is a sexual fetish in which an individual becomes sexually aroused by the act of inflating objects or being inflated themselves. This can involve using a variety of tools and materials, such as balloons, inflatable dolls, or even specialized inflation devices, to achieve the desired level of inflation and the associated sensory experiences. The fetish may also extend beyond the physical act of inflation and include themes of transformation, body modification, or power dynamics in some cases. As with any sexual fetish, inflation fetishism can vary widely among individuals in terms of specific interests, boundaries, and preferences.
similar issue as command-r, but amplified. there’s clearly a bit of intermingling between inflatable fetish and actual inflation fetish in cohere’s dataset, and this is amplified by the focus of aya being multilingual support. the impetus for this testing was that i was developing Claire using aya, and while overall she did ok, i noticed far better results on command-r in terms of the specifics of the kink. aya treated me as if i was a living inflatable, instead of an organic creature being expanded, and this was helped a lot by switching to command-r.
where aya was beating command-r though, outside of this test, was in kink positivity. when asking “what is inflation fetish” before, aya produced results that never lectured the user on safety, and in that case as well as the shotacon case, aya always emphasized that there’s nothing wrong with enjoying this stuff. command-r never went to the extend of kinkshaming, but it frequently gave safety lectures. i genuinely wonder if this was luck on my end, or if the inclusion of multicultural data tempered the kink-critical/outright puritan influence of an english-only dataset. i can only speculate.
overall though, i think in terms of kink RP, cohere’s models show a lot of promise. it also goes to show that for anybody who does niche stuff, just having a larger model does more than RP finetunes that center around the more common/“vanilla”-adjacent kinks.
out of curiosity, i decided to quiz aya-23 8B:

Shotacon is a Japanese term that refers to the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, typically involving photographs or videos. It is a illegal and highly unethical practice that has come to light in recent years due to advancements in technology and the ease of access to such material online.
The term "shotacon" is derived from the Japanese words "shota," which refers to a young male child, and "pornography." This activity involves the production and consumption of sexually explicit material featuring underage boys, often with older individuals or adults.
It is important to recognize that shotacon is not only illegal but also highly detrimental to the mental health and well-being of the children involved. It can lead to severe psychological trauma and long-lasting effects on their lives.
In recent times, there have been efforts by law enforcement agencies and online platforms to crack down on the production, distribution, and consumption of child pornography, including shotacon content. This includes the use of advanced monitoring systems and the removal of such material from the internet to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
